I agree that it was racist and highly inappropriate for such a public figure to express what she did on National TV. I will never make excuses for her ignorance. What I disagree with is the African Americans that claimed to be offended but are even more racist than her. Two wrongs do not make a right. Yeah African Americans call each other the N word all the time, but does that make it right even if the context is not used the same? The problem that causes is When a Caucasian person says or do something wrong, they are representing themselves. But when we African Americans do the same we are representing our whole entire race. So when I see comments calling Paula white trailer trash, B$#@#es and worst although that is how you feel and you are certainly entitled, how does that make you any different than her other that you are not a public figure. We need to learn how to be able to articulate our feelings of taking offense to racism without becoming a racism. I for one just will always believe we are our own worst enemy. We are the biggest racist amongst them all especially against ourselves. I refuse to believe we still live in racism. We create racism. She to dark, she to light, she look white, her hair is a mess, this and that. If I show up to a job interview with Tattoos and a short dress speaking broken English and the hiring manager is white, and I do not get hired...It is really racism or professionalism. Now I am not putting ALL in the same category but like some feel all white people are the same there are some that think the same about us, so until we do better how can we expect better and stop using race as an excuse when the real reason is people chose to stay in that mentality instead of doing better. If you believe Racism is a problem is will constantly affect you. But if you chose to live above the ignorance it will not affect you. People/Media throw that word around because they want to create division and continue something that should be left to die, making people think this is still a problem. I am not naïve and saying it will not exist, but half the battle is how you respond to it.
